KGTC's Annual Scholarship to Future Astronaut Training Program Scholarships for Summer 2010 The Kansas Association for the Gifted, Talented and Creative will sponsor two scholarships for Level I for the Future Astronauts Training Program for the summer of 2010. The Future Astronaut Training Program will be held at the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson. KGTC will pay tuition/registration which includes room, board, model rocket, t-shirt, group photo, and all written materials. Level I scholarships are available to any Kansas student finishing sixth, seventh, or eighth grade during the current school year. The winning students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson. Students who are interested in applying 1. The KGTC Scholarship form Download copy here 2. A typewritten essay* expressing their desire and interest in attending the Future Astronaut Training Program 3. A letter of recommendation from a teacher, mentor, or other adult who has worked with the student on a special project. These letters are one factor considered in the selection process and should be a thorough description of the student. *Essays are judged on the use of scientific vocabulary and scientific thinking; explanation of interest in further exploring scientific fields related to experiences in Future Astronaut Training Program; and organized thought and concern for the mechanics of written language.
